Book List...

Since I've been out last long weekend because of HS and college get-togethers (which is worth it), the desk in my room is piled high with list of pending books that I still need to read...

The list of books I still need to read are:

1. Marley and Me by John Grogan - I already watched the movie and it made me cry. I want to read this just to check if the book is much better than the movie adaptation. I bought it at Booksale for only P80.00

2. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami - been hearing a lot of raves about this book. I'm already in Chapter 3 but I stopped reading for a while since I got bored. But I want to finish reading it. I got it at National Bookstore Yearly Sale for only P50.00

3. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks - As one of an avid reader of Nick Sparks novel, this is something I don't want to miss. I already near the end of the book and I hate continuing it because I am sensing that I don't want the ending (I haven't watched the movie adaptation yet). This book is a present from a friend when she came back from the US :)

4. Don't Sweat the Small Stuff Series - A must read book for those people like me who sweats or gets infuriated over small or petty situations. I learned a lot from this book. I got this at Booksale for only P115.00

5. The Management Series books - Something I need to read for career growth and additional information while taking up graduate studies. I bought this last year at National Bookstore sale with my colleague.

6. The Secret Life of the Bees by Sue Monk Kidd - The book has a movie adaptation too featuring Dakota Fanning. I haven't started this one yet. I bought it at Booksale for only P45.00

7. Pants on Fire and How to be Popular by Meg Cabot - I like Meg Cabot's young adult series Princess Diaries and I am curious on the other series she'd done. I haven't started them and I bought them last June on National Bookstore for P100.00 pesos each

8. Last Book on Gossip Girl - This is not similar to the Gossip Girl series but way much more funny to read. It is also on sale that is why I grab the copy while hanging out with my friends at Nuvali last June.

9. The Zahir by Paulo Coelho (Spanish version) - my one project for this year is to learn how to speak Spanish Language and tried reading a book written in Spanish Language. I just saw the copy at sale table in National Bookstore and bought it for only P20.00. I promised my dad to learn Spanish since he is already fluently speaking (one of the major advantage of being assigned in South American country)

10. Working Smarter Not Harder - Something I read related to career growth and development. I bought this copy at Booksale for P70.00 while having a browsing books date with my significant other (who is also a bookworm like me)

11. Naked in the Boardroom - career related book also which I also bought along with my Working Smarter Not Harder copy

12. Milan Guidebook - part of my curiosity on one of my dream destination is check out what can be seen in Milan. As usual the copy is bought on sale :)

13. Romantic Poems - medieval and famous poems written in a special paper

14. Nice Girls don't Get Rich - another self-development book I bought at Booksale almost 70% off compared to the same hardcover copies sold at National Bookstore.

15. Lightning Thief by Percy Jackson - this copy is the same person who gave me my Dear John book. I haven't started this one yet but I heard from a lot of friends that the book is also good.

Late Bloomer

I always admit I am a late bloomer when it comes on some stuff. Sometimes people are raving for their favorite restaurant, music, books and travel destinations, and I am sooo clueless what they were talking about… the only thing I am not a late bloomer is that I am up-to-date when it comes to current events and showbiz news (kaya nga nabansagan ako sa previous office namin na ako daw si Ms. PEP eh :P)

Thinking about it I am not so affected but sometimes I can't help but laugh at my cluelessness and for being naïve… And then while listening to John Mayer's "Waiting for the World to Change" I realized, I've been too late to like some things people liked earlier pa in their lives :P

Ok so why I am writing it here now??? Wala lang, I just want to list it down here and see how late I've been to join the fray of fans and favoritism

On Music
○ Before I don't like John Mayer's songs and Alicia Keys… currently, I had copies of their album in my IPOD and cellphone memory. They are also my most played pop song.

○ I also don't like Lady Gaga. I found her too weird for words and kinda scary to be honest, pero ngayon nakiki-RARARA Bad Romance na ako and singing Just Dance and Poker Face

○ I'm no fan of country music. But when Taylor Swift created an album and I saw it on MTV, my perspective on country music changed

○ During 1990's I don't like listening much to alternative… but years later, I built a huge collection of alternative songs and albums from Collective Soul, Incubus, Limp Bizkit, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Blink 182, Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, Third Eye Blind, Offspring, Arkana, Nirvana and even Metallica… I never thought I will be a Rock and Alternative fan.

On Books:
○ My late addiction to Twilight Saga… but this was soooo 2008. I just remembered that I scoured all parts of Manila bookstores (that includes National Bookstore, Powerbooks, Fullybooked and even those not so known bookstores in Recto) just to get a single copy of Twilight book. Thank God a previous officemate of mine referred me to newly-opened Fullybooked branch beside Edsa Shangrila hotel and nobody knows they got huge stocks of books! After a week of my visit, I was able to purchase the next three copies…. Talk about weird addiction to the storyline!

○ Been hearing a lot of raves about Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella… got to read the book before the movie adaptation is shown. Then I didn't knew that tabi-tabi in Recto are selling new copies of the book series for a cheaper prices. I only found out when I purchase Sophie Kinsella's other chic-lit books :P

○ Haruki Murakami book, Kafka on the Shore…. A lot of my officemates is saying that his books are good and I got to scored one copy while browsing on the sale section of National Bookstore. I am still clueless why it is a best-seller… No offense to Haruki's book lovers but I can't finish it reading… Two months after and it was left in my night table still on Chapter 2… Nakiuso lang ako pero late pa rin :P

○ Nicholas Sparks novels. I got this love-hate relationship with Nick Sparks books, some are good especially the original copies of "A Walk To Remember" and "The Notebook". I got to read the book two years after movie adaption for The Notebook and A Walk To Remember was shown on the cinemas. Then I don't like some of the novels where the protagonist/s died at the end of the novel. :P Siguro ayaw ko lang ng may namamatay at gusto ko happy ending palagi

Books that I still did not read as of this moment: Harry Potter Series, Lord of the Rings and Neil Gaiman series until now I still don't have the urge nor the interest :P

On Movies:
○ I am late watching these movies:

○ Salt
○ Here Comes the Bride
○ One More Chance - really clueless why Popoy and Basha were so talked over during coffee dates, mall hopping, tours and even while riding in the bus
○ My Sassy Girl Korean version - 5 years late watching this
○ John Q
○ Inside Man
○ Italian Job
○ My 50 First Dates
○ Avatar - I just don't get it why it was tagged as one of the good movies… I am not a fan of fiction

On Travel:
Kinda loser on going to these beautiful places…
○ Bohol - been dying to go here forever but cannot find any travel buddy

○ Boracay - feels like I'm the one left out not visiting this place

○ Cebu - Isa pa to… seems near yet so far :P

○ Vigan/Laoag - it was sooooo far and still looking for travel buddy

On TV Shows:
○ I am late watching Glee. People are already fawning for Glee series and I am still kind of clueless. Thank God for the pirated DVD series and I was hooked instantly

○ CSI series, when I watched it, it was already season 7 for Las Vegas and season 3 for CSI NY

Book-ish...

Not only I adore clothes, shoes, accessories and bags but I also heart books! Who says kikays like me don't read books??? I believe that being a bookworm enables you to expand your knowledge and makes you a good conversationalist which is of course depends on the topics and interest.

Ever since my elementary school days I love to read books until it grew into a big addiction. It started with the classics and poetry books then read Sweet Valley and Love Story series all throughout Highschool and College. After college graduation, I shift my interest into other fiction books / novels. Right now my current addiction is chic-lit books that always made my day. And this is what my room looks like with all my book I accumulated all throughout these years

The Upper Top part of my bookshelves - my old books which I hate to give away since they've been part of my younger years

My all time favorite books

My favorite chic-lits from Meg Cabot, Sophie Kinsella and other authors ;)

My recent collections of the Twilight series that's also eating up my room space :D

Two more weeks and Christmas is already here!

I am nearly broke because of the following:

3. Early booked flight to Coron Palawan next year
4. Shop a lot of dress, shoes and accessories for MYSELF (conceited and selfish me!)
5. Eating out and drinking too much coffee
6. Splurge on another new BDJ planner (thank God! it's already here)
7. Splurge on the NEW MOON additional collectibles
8. Upcoming dinners and get togethers during Christmas break with friends and colleagues

After all the impulse buys and splurges.... I still want these following ITEMS!

1. Books
- Follow your Heart by Andrew Matthews
- The Princess Diaries series 6-10 (I love Mia!)
- Sophie Kinsella's other chic-lit works (I am sooo HOOKED!)

2. Clothes

- jumper

3. Shoes - I am still looking for a pink flats at Schu (with a discount) and I am yearning for a pair of high-heeled peep toe shoes at Charles and Keith in Robinson Galleria

HELP! I need sideline to indulge myself!!!!
